Teacher/School
My objective in teaching is to develop each child into a person who possesses confidence in the areas of academics and social well-being, as well as being able to use life skills to be a successful member of society. I believe that each child can learn and every student has the right to learn in a safe and nurturing classroom.
Graduating Magna Cum Laude, I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, with a specialty in Preprimary Education from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2002. I also hold a Master’s of Science Degree in Teaching and Learning from Minnesota State University, Mankato with an emphasis on Improving Teaching and Learning, Data-Driven Decision Making to Improve Student Learning and Learning Communities and Leadership. This will be my seventeenth year of teaching. I've taught 3rd grade for several years now, but at the beginning of my career I also taught a year of 1st grade and a year of 2nd grade. I have also taught nine years of Summer Reading Academy in the first, third, and fourth grades. |
Personal
My family is the most important thing in the world to me! My daughter, Grace and son, Alex made me so proud every day! I'm also so blessed to be married to my best friend, Cody! We have lots to celebrate in our family!
One of my greatest passions is cycling. This year through the spring, summer and fall I will put over 3,500 miles on my bike! I'm training for the World Time Trial Championships in Borrego Springs, CA in November! At the race I will ride as many miles as I can in 12 hours straight (my goal is at least 175 miles)! Cycling provides a wonderful time for me to enjoy the outdoors and have some quiet time to think. When my schedule allows, I enjoy riding with the Nicollet Bike group rides as well!

My passion of cycling has lead me into my next favorite thing, competing in triathlons! In the past I have mostly competed in Sprint Triathlons, which are typically a 1/4-1/2 mile swim, 12-14 mile bike, and a 3.1 mile run and have done a few Olympic distance races, which are a .93 mile swim, 24.8 mile bike ride and 6.2 mile run. Two years ago I raced a Half Ironman, or 70.3 race. This was a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run! This is the first summer in 7 years that I haven't competed in a triathlon! All of my time has been put into training on the bike and swimming as cross-training.
The hobby that I've been doing the longest in my life is water skiing. This is something I don't get to do as often as I would like to, but I ski whenever I get the chance. I also love being on the water and relaxing with family and friends!
Speaking of skiing, I don't just sit inside my house all winter long, I also love to downhill ski! This hobby truly makes living in the cold Minnesota winters much more bearable for me! A few years ago I got to ski in the Rockies! Although now days most of our weekends in the winter are spent at wrestling tournaments, skiing is something we love to do as a family. Grace and Alex are both excellent skiers and have been skiing since they were very little !
Finally, my newest winter hobby allows me to hold onto some of my bike fitness year round and truly embrace our wonderful MN winters is fat biking! As much as I love flying down the highway on a warm summer morning, there's nothing quite like riding through the woods with beautiful snow lightly falling around you!
Now you know all about me! I can't wait to get to know you!
