No Excuses
Well, after taking a bit of a sabbatical from the classroom blog, I'm getting back on track. I have no good reason for not keeping this updated other than life has been busy! So please enjoy a few snippets from the last few months!
January:
The biggest event in January at Eagle Lake is Jump Rope for Heart! We have an amazing participation among the students and they have so much fun!
Gretchen was our top 3rd grade fundraiser! What a ROCK STAR!!
February:
We had a fun Valentine's celebration! The kids made awesome boxes and it was fun to share our friendship this day!
A little conversation heart math rounded out our celebrations!
February is also I love to Read Month, so we invited our parents in to enjoy some reading and crackers with Crack Open a Book.
The first week of March we celebrated Dr. Seuss's Birthday with a school-wide character dress up day! Third grade chose the book/movie Inside Out. See if you can identify the characters in our classroom!
Also Mrs. Michels and I created this awesome I Love to Read (wall/doors) decoration in the space between our classrooms. In the background of some of the character pictures you can see close ups of the vans! :)
The Science Fair also took place at the beginning of March. 3rd grade is the first year students at Eagle Lake can participate, so there were several kids from our class who took on this new challenge! They all did fantastic work!
About once a month we spend some time with our kindergarten buddies. This time we got to do Flashlight Reading, which was super fun! We closed all the blinds and turned off the lights and flicked on our flashlights!
The other celebration we've had in our classroom recently was our Cheez-It Party with Mr. Kath! Each month at the SOAR Assembly one classroom is chosen from the nest of class SOAR slips to enjoy Cheez-Its and conversation with the principal. This was our lucky month! Way to SOAR, especially during Phy. Ed., where they earned this SOAR slip!
The kids enjoyed some Cheez-Its, as well as trying some spicy Cheez-Its and some water! Thanks for the nice time, Mr. Kath!
Alright, you're up to date! We're kind of at the height of our learning right now! We're working extra hard to prepare for the upcoming MCA tests (in April). I will do my best to update in a more timely manner from here on out!
